When it comes to contract staffing, the very name is pretty self-explanatory. It’s a technique where the companies are hiring human assets on a contract-based commitment. Such contracts are possible between an organization and an individual or between two companies. In the quest to fill in challenging positions while not making any longer commitments, an increasing number of companies tend to turn to such staffing alternatives.

How it works
Contract staffing usually starts with the company needing a talented professionals to work on short-term projects, so they turn to turn to staffing agencies for help. Hence, the recruiters start their sourcing, cv-screening and interviewing efforts. Once the right candidate is chosen, a contract is signed between the staffing agency and the hire. The staffing agency provides a remuneration for the hire through a previous contract with the original employer.

When to use contract staffing

Business expansion. After years into providing services successfully, a lot of organizations look to expand their business. To do this, they need to expand their workforce too. However, while in this process, permanent staff hiring can show as tricky. As a business owner in this situation, you probably are still not sure what type of staff you’d need on the long run. Hence, contract staffing may show as the perfect solution.

Cutting on resources. Contract staffing is one of the best measures to cut on operational costs. If you commit to permanent placements, this brings a whole new array of legal and financial commitments. So, if you are looking for someone to see that the daily business requirements are met or more specifically, someone to work on a certain project, contract staffing is ideal. At the end of the project, you won’t be obligated to keep paying the employee if you don’t expect a next project soon.

Save time. When practicing contract staffing, a great deal of the hiring procedure is shortened. Usually, these contracts are project-based or time-based (three months or so). This means that you most probably need someone to take care of a certain current workload or a project, but you don’t see the need to hire someone permanently yet. Since this is the case, you’d need less time to get the perfect hire, since no long-term best fit is necessary.
